UTSA grad Clarysa Luna eyes medical school after nontraditional path to degree

Clarysa Luna '24 still remembers the class that first sparked her interest in medicine. Her high school anatomy teacher’s engaging instructional style led to a fascination with the models of cells, organs and skeletons that they studied in class. This interest — combined with a desire to help others — led Luna to study biology at UTSA, with aspirations of attending medical school after completing her undergraduate degree.

The Legion of Valor of the USA has awarded UTSA senior and Air Force ROTC Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Sophia Irizarry the 2023 Bronze Cross for Achievement.
